Textual Aids
TEXTUAL AIDS are educational instruments, tools, or materials that are used in classrooms and workplaces that provide support and facilitate understanding of texts. These are most of the time graphical outlines or images that give the general idea. These textual aids simplify the comprehension of texts. As a teacher, using textual aids during discussion provides the students visuals that makes the lesson more interesting and understandable. It also aids in capturing their interest during the discussion.

1. Provides
learners with the opportunity to decide what parts of the text are important,
and shows the relation of the ideas and concept in the text.
2. Help the
learners understand and comprehend any story subject or topic being discussed.

learners clearly visualize how ideas are organized within a text or surrounding
a concept.
4. Provides the students with a structure for
abstract ideas.
EFFECTS OF TEXTUAL AIDS
1. UNDERSTANDING THE TEXT
When the learners visualize the ideas or the concepts of the lesson
being discussed, it facilitates retention and comprehension. Learners vary in
different ways and using textual aids in lessons that need it will help the
teacher deliver the lesson well and ensure comprehension.
2. PROMOTES CRITICAL
THINKING
Textual aids promote critical thinking skills and encourage students to analyze what they can see. When we show the students these textual aids, they can interpret them the way they understand them. When the discussion comes, it will be easier for the teacher to explain the lesson because the students already have an idea of what the lesson is about.
3. FAMILIARITY WITH THE
TOPIC
Textual aids, like graphs and charts, provide the students the visuals they need to be familiar with the topic. It helps them remember the lesson and the ideas that came along with it. In the long run, textual aids help retention.

Textual aids promote organization skills among students. The textual aids being presented give them the outline to follow about the topic being discussed. For students, being organized is particularly important since it helps them learn how to prioritize activities. Having good organizational skills also makes it easier to collaborate with others and helps increase productivity and efficiency
